Give it hands

So far you may have been copy-pasting: you paste an email into the AI, it drafts a reply, you paste the reply back. That works, but it's the friction that quietly kills the habit.

The upgrade is to let the AI reach into your tools directly β€” read your inbox, see your calendar, pull a doc β€” so there's no shuttling back and forth. You don't need to understand the plumbing. You just need to answer one question:

What do you wish your AI could reach into for you?

Email and calendar are the right place to start. Connect one of them.

Try it now

Connect exactly one real tool (start with email or calendar). Then re-run your delegation from Lesson 2 β€” the inbox triage, the meeting prep β€” and feel the difference. No pasting. It just reaches in and does it.

That shift β€” from "I copy things into the AI" to "the AI works directly on my stuff" β€” is the moment it stops being a toy and starts being a teammate.

If the tool doesn't show up

You connected it but the AI says it can't see your inbox or calendar? Connections load at the start of a chat, so the fix is usually: start a fresh chat and try again. This trips people on Microsoft 365 / Outlook most often β€” the connector shows as enabled but didn't load into the current session. Before running the exercise, ask the agent "what tools can you see right now?" β€” if your email/calendar isn't on the list, open a new chat (and confirm the connector is toggled on) and it'll be there.

No connector for your email at all?

Some providers don't have a one-click connector yet β€” iCloud Mail and Yahoo are the usual ones β€” and some locked-down work Microsoft 365 accounts are blocked by an IT admin. You're not stuck: forward or mirror the account you want the agent to see into a Gmail address (Gmail connects cleanly), and point the agent there. It's a two-minute forwarding rule, and then the rest of this track works exactly the same.

You've got it when…

The AI acted directly on a real tool of yours β€” read your actual inbox or calendar and did something with it β€” with zero copy-paste from you.

Quiz β€” did it land?

Your tutor checks these before marking the lesson complete:

  1. What changes when the agent can reach your tools directly, versus copy-pasting?
  2. Which tool did you connect, and what did the agent then do directly with it β€” no copy-paste?
