Can I use a coworking space as my business address?
What a virtual office does and does not give you, and the questions to ask before relying on one.
Usually yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people buy the
cheapest tier. But "usually" is doing real work in that sentence, so ask
these before you rely on it.
- Will they accept post and packages in your business name? Not every
space will, and some accept letters but not parcels.
- Will they sign for certified or registered post? This matters more
than people expect.
- Is it a street address or a suite number they assign? Some
registrations and some banks care about the difference.
- Do they list you publicly at that address? Relevant if you would
rather not be findable.
- What happens to your post when you leave? Ask about forwarding and
for how long.
Worth saying plainly. Whether a given address
satisfies a particular registration, licence or bank is a question for the
body that issues it, and for your accountant or attorney — not for a
