To Austin's newsrooms,
Like all of you, I'm heartbroken at the loss of Joshua Baer. I knew Josh personally — years ago, over a lunch at the Driskill on Sixth Street, he was expanding Capital Factory while I was conceiving TexasCoworking.com — and just nine days before he died, I filmed him on stage at the Claude Code meetup he hosted at Capital Factory on June 8, 2026. It may be among the last footage of Josh doing what he did best: lifting up founders.
I've published a tribute to him — his story, the video, and a growing directory of coverage:

PERMISSION TO REUSE: You have my explicit permission to use the video and any of this text — in whole or in part, on air or online, with or without attribution. No need to ask. I'm glad to provide the original footage, higher-resolution clips, or photos on request, and to talk on the record.
The idea Josh shared from that stage — what he called Agents First — is now built into nearly two hundred websites I run. His impact on Austin is hard to overstate. Thank you for telling his story well.
