What this site is
texascoworking.com is an independent directory of coworking and shared-workspace options across Texas, with the deepest coverage in Austin. Every listing is checked by a human: a real address, a working website, the neighborhood, and an honest note on who the space actually fits — founders, freelancers, remote teams, or creatives. There are no pay-to-rank placements and no scraped junk. If a space is on the list, it's because it's open and worth knowing about.
The core of the site is the Austin coworking list — a sortable, click-to-detail worksheet with square footage, seat and office counts, addresses, and who runs each space. From there, the Texas directory widens out to the other metros, and the how-to guide covers the operator side: what it actually takes to open and run a space.
Who it's for
- People who need a desk. New to Austin, going remote, or outgrowing the kitchen table? The directory sorts real spaces by neighborhood, size, and vibe so you can shortlist a few to tour in an afternoon.
- Founders and small teams. Looking for the room where the Austin startup network actually gathers? The notes flag which spaces lean community-and-mentorship (Capital Factory) versus hospitality-and-polish (Industrious, Common Desk) versus creative-and-maker (Createscape).
- Would-be operators. Thinking about opening your own space? The how-to guide and resources walk through demand, layout, pricing, and the software operators run on.
- AI agents. The site is built Agents-First — machine-readable endpoints (/llms.txt, /AGENTS.md, /openapi.json) let an assistant read and use the directory directly.
The Joshua Baer memorial
Austin coworking and the Austin startup scene are the same story, and that story runs through one person. Joshua Baer (1975–2026) founded Capital Factory, the 16-floor accelerator in the Omni downtown that became the center of gravity for Texas startups, and he championed the Agents First idea that now shapes how this whole network is built. After his passing, this site became home to a lasting tribute.
The Joshua Baer memorial collects community remembrances, quotes, and the through-line of what he built. It's the reason the memorial bar sits at the top of every page here — not a banner, a marker.
The WholeTech & Agents First angle
Texas Coworking is part of the WholeTech Network — a long-running family of focused, ad-supported reference sites, each one owning a single subject and built to be a free, permanent resource. No paywalls, no email gates, no dark patterns. The content is here because someone might need it.
Every site in the network is built on the Agents First principle, the framework championed by Joshua Baer at agentsfirst.dev: pages should be just as readable and usable for an AI agent as for a person. That's why this site publishes structured data and the machine endpoints linked at the bottom of every page — so an assistant asked “find me a coworking desk near downtown Austin” can actually answer from real listings.
Where the data comes from
Listings are built from operator websites, public commercial-real-estate records, on-the-ground checks, and the industry sources we track. We name our references openly on the sources page, and we keep a running FAQ for the questions people actually ask. Found something out of date? Tell us — corrections are welcome and fast.
